I have been a resident of the area (past League City resident and current Nassau Bay resident) since 1994 with my wife Dr. Laura Mackay who has had several roles within CCISD in that time. We have two daughters that benefited from a CCISD education. Our oldest daughter Maisie is a junior at Texas A&M and our youngest Mallorie is finishing her senior year at the Texas Academy of Math and Science at the University of North Texas. I have worked for Gulf Coast Educators for the last 27 years and in that role, I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with educators and their families. My passion for education led me to volunteer for several education related non-profits and district committees.
Highlights:
Clear Creek Education Foundation – Served on the board for 7 years with two years as Chair. During my tenure, the organization grew financially and hired a full time executive director.
Communities in Schools – Served for 6 years on the board with one year as President.
Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce – Served on the board for 7 years with one year as Chair. Most importantly have served on the New Teachers Luncheon for 27 years and as chair of that committee for the last 15 years. For the last 7 legislative sessions, I’ve participated in the chamber’s trip to Austin to advocate for the public schools in our region.
Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership – Currently serving as a board member and have been an active member of the Education and Workforce Committee for the last 5 years.
District, PTA & School Volunteer – I have participated in several district wide committees including DEIC and bond committees. Joined PTA in each of my children’s schools. I’ve also mentored students, assisted with robotics programs and participated in Junior Achievement. In 2014 I was named CCISD Citizen of the Year for my district involvement.
